Belfast is in the north, it rains a lot, it can be quite grey...And for me, there was always going to be a balance between seeing life in black-and-white, which photographically can be very beautiful, but we use a kind of liquidy, silky, velvety black-and-white. I would call it a Hollywood black-and-white.”
These presets are directly based on the stills I shot for ‘Belfast’.
I meticulously created these to ensure a consistent look across a variety of lighting conditions and locations. Every image was individually graded, however these styles/presets created the starting place and now I am sharing them with you.
Across a film like Belfast I shoot, portraits, landscapes, still-life, action, posed photos, candid photos and do so in a variety of conditions, from harsh bright sun to very low light.
